Headlines Barber Shop Hosts Community Resume Party
Charlotte, NC
June 11, 2014
Headlines Barber Shop and AyresVoice partnered up to hold a Community Resume Party on June 28th from 10am – 2pm. The event was held at Headlines Barber Shop at 5309 E. Independence Blvd in Charlotte.
AyresVoice is a company which offers a slew of services assisting its clientele in securing employment. AyresVoice founder, Jai Cook, discounted her services so that she could assist a broader cross section of the community. Cook states that the resumes are so important these days “since you cannot get in front of a hiring manager and physically hand them your resume. Your resume has to be interested enough to set you apart from the crowd.”
Resume party participants should brought a printed copy of their resume to the event. For $20 they had a session with a certified professional resume writer. During this session, their resume will be reviewed for errors. In addition, there will be mock interviews and tips on dressing for success. The first 5 participants receivde free consultations. There was a contest conducted on Instagram. The winner received a resume gift certificate for services valued at $150.
Headlines Barber Shop started an initiative last year to give back to the Charlotte community on a regular basis. Derrick Bennett, Headlines Barber Shop’s owner, feels that “with so many people having job issues, a resume is the first and most import step to securing a better job and a better life. For this reason, I knew that partnering with AyresVoice for this event was a no brainer.”
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank on Spratt Street in Charlotte.
