CHARLOTTE, NC – Locally owned Headlines Barbershop hosted a food drive from July 15th through August 15th. All donations went to the Second Harvest Food Bank on Spratt Street. Second Harvest is a Charlotte based organization that provides food to those in need.
By the end of the food drive, Headlines collected 719 pounds of food and won a national award from Andis for Community Involvement.
Headlines Barbershop was established in 2008 by Derrick Bennett, a local barber, who has the goal of giving back to the Charlotte community. “Giving back to the community is extremely important to me. There is so much negativity in the world, it is urgent that we offset that with positivity. The positivity has a ripple effect on everyone that it touches” says Bennett.
This is the first in a series of other activities that the barbershop is planning.
